He is not fat. He is a big Sheltie bred by folks who did not adhere to the breed standard. Sometimes the bigger Shelties have bigger brains. (oops, I said that out loud). And Thor is very smart. He learns quickly and retains the knowledge. BUT, he was not socialized early enough in his previous life. And he is pushy. He needs to have adopters who are at least as smart as he is. Thor's health is excellent. He has been neutered recently. His baseline bloodwork is great. He is heartworm negative. All of his vaccines are up to date. His structure is good and strong. But the most important thing to remember about Thor is that he is a dominant dog. With his own people, he is sweet and cuddly. He is described as the "ultimate love sponge." But, strangers are a whole different thing. He will need a dedicated mom and/or dad to patiently teach him that most humans are nice and kind and may have treats in their pockets. Lack of early socialization shows up in adult dogs and becomes a challenge to them their whole lives. Thor's foster family is striving to redirect his energy when he is frightened by new people in new situations. We would recommend a good trainer that only uses positive reinforcement techniques. This guy is very food motivated so that should help. This is not a dog for a first time dog owner. His forever folks need to have good dog skills and be aware of humans and other dogs that
